Marie Warnecke was born and educated in Melbourne and studied Art and Design at the Melbourne Institute of Technology, (now R.M.I.T.) Marie also studied painting under Graham Rowe, (Shepparton) David Moore and David Taylor (Melbourne)
She is a member of Berwick Arts Society, and one of the founding members of Cranbourne Arts and Crafts Society, as well as belonging to Sherbrooke Arts Society since 1984, the Townsville Arts Society and was one of the founding members of Magnetic Island's Arts Co-operative. Marie has exhibited in many group exhibitions in Melbourne and North Queensland, as well as solo exhibitions, including: “Through Island Eyes” 1999, “Islands I Have Loved” 2000, “Recent Works” 2002 “The Italian Job” 2006, “Alter Ego” 2008 at Perc Tucker Gallery, “Ripples” 2009 at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery From April 16th - May 9th 2013 her work may be seen in St Nicholas Gallery , 9 Bear St , Mordialloc in an Exhibition of Land and Seascapes entitled "Places in the Heart", to be opened at 4 p.m. on Sunday April 21st.
Marie was awarded the Watercolour Prize at Perc Tucker Gallery in the Townsville Art Society awards in 2005 judged by Ron Radford, Director of the National Gallery of Australia; Highly Commended in 2008 judged by Tony Ellwood, Director of the Queensland Gallery, Highly Commended in 2009, by the Townsville Art Society for watercolour, as well as numerous other awards. In 2010 Marie won the Highly Commended in the Open Section in North Queensland judged by Imants Tillers Director of the Art Gallery of NSW.
Marie has a working experience in a wide variety of the Arts, including Textile Design, Commercial Art, and Architectural Art and her work can be seen in many private collections in Australia , as well as in the U.K. Germany, Greece and Japan. Her work has also been featured in Australian Artist Magazine.
In 2010 she was selected to hang her work in the Casey Art Space, and also to be Guest Artist at the Kevin Hill’s “TOP TEN” Australian Artists art show in the City of Casey.
In 2013 her work can be found at galleries in Victoria and Queensland, including Perc Tucker Gallery in Townsville and Magnetic Island's prestigious Barefoot Gallery , the Magnetic Island Art Space and Brialyn Boathouse Gallery in Frankston.
From February 4th 2015 until March 27th 2015 Marie's solo exhibition "Atmosphere and Aesthetics" will be on view at Casey Art Space, Casey Council Chambers, Magid Dve, Narre Warren.
